Chicory mixed in with legumes such as Alfalfa & Clovers provide essential nutrition to help with antler development and lactation for does. Our specialty is just such a mix and we can get one looking like this on your property

Outdoor Essentials can take that old, overgrown field and work that spent ground into the lush, quality Food Plot of your choice. We will discuss the options, pick a plan, pull a soil sample and get to work. These old fields are PERFECT for reclamation and we have Full-Tackled every project with 100% success!! Warm Season/Cool Season "Double Cropping" If you want us to create a long term strategy for your property and build a Nutritional Program that will maximize the health and stability of Deer on your property, then we have the Cadillac of all Programs-----the Double Cropping Strategy. Double Cropping means planting the same plot twice in a single growing season, which provides high levels of protein from spring until fall, then fall and into winter. The warm season annuals we plant in spring are made up of proven Legumes such as Lablab, Cow Peas, Iron & Clay Peas, Forage Soybeans, BuckBeans and Ebony Peas. These Legumes will offer very high protein levels which increase antler size, body size and healthier lactation for nursing Does. Once August arrives, antlers begin to harden and lactation slows. These Legumes have done their job and we mow and disc the ground to prepare for fall planting. Our fall plantings are cereal grain based and are geared towards attraction during hunting season. The fall mix consists of Triticale(wheat & rye hybrid), annual Clovers, Chicory, Vetch and WInter Peas. This fall mix is the ultimate fall attraction and I stand behind it 100%. Come spring time we come in and start all over again. The Double Crop Strategy is most popular in large land holdings with interest in growing massive antlers and building age structure on the property unlike ever before. Most of your large land management properties depend on this strategy and Outdoor Essentials are experts at building this plan for you. Take a look below to see some of these warm season annuals at their prime

Sunflowers & Dove Patches If you are a wing shooter wanting a first class, quality Dove Patch, then search no more. Outdoor Essentials plants Dove Patches for some of the largest Dove Clubs here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Our choice of Sunflowers are the Clearfield variety that grow moderate to large heads. These particular Sunflowers are resistant to Raptor, which is a herbicide capable of "clearing out" the majority of noxious weeds and grasses commonly found in Sunflower patches. Couple this with the use of pre-emergent herbicides and you will have a very clean, healthy Dove Patch.

Trail Camera Surveillance and Census Populations/Ratios True Management for Whitetail Deer begins with much more than Food Plots. It is vitally important that we have a close estimate as to the amount of deer utilizing your property and one way to do this is through trail camera surveillance. A team of trail cameras strategically placed throughout the property can give us a pretty accurate account of the deer population on the farm and how healthy the age structure is. Outdoor Essentials is armed with an arsenal of Infra Red Trail Cameras capable of capturing the images needed for the survey. In just a short time we can pull together the images to formulate your nutritional and management program in conjunction with the given population. We will then make recommendations for potential harvest numbers and even guide you through age identification for both bucks and does. No true Management Program is complete without knowing the deer on your property
